Spring is HERE

Open water fishing is off to a hot start this month.  I have focused only on bass fishing thus far this spring with some great trips already in the books.  Here are my must have 3 baits for early bass season:

#1- Wig's Jig and Chunk: This has been a favorite of mine for over a decade now.  This hand-made jig available in all the right colors paired with a Hot Rod Baits chunk is always ready to be pitched this time of year.  I have rotated between the Black/Blue Flash and the Bluegill pattern.  Get some today: www.hotrodbaits.com

#2- Strike King Spinnerbait: If you have bass fished you certainly have a few of these in your tacklebox.  Strike King has been making spinnerbaits longer than most of us have been alive.  A spinnerbait is a greta lure this time of year as it is mimicking the forage of the bass, smaller game fish.  They come in a large variety of color, I like to throw a bait that has a variety of colors in it this time of year.  I also like double blades so I can reel it along a bit slower in the cooler temperatures.  I will always use a small trailer in the spring, as the fish are sometimes a little hesitant to bite.

#3- Strike King Lures JERKBAIT: If you have fished with me in the spring and fall you know I will take every opportunity to catch a bass on a jerkbait...I LOVE IT.  The bite is just so different, and working the lure just right for that bass to come along and take it is a special feeling.  I have fallen in love with the KVD Strike King series of jerkbaits.  They cast like a bullet and have 3 treble hooks that are "sticky sharp".  They have a great lineup of colors, my goto in clearer water is the Pro Bone color.  Strike King Jerkbaits

There are my top 3 baits for March and early April, I hope you can get out on the water and give your top baits a try.
